One of the groups I'm in sent this email and I thought that it would be nice to post this (since we're all interested in children's books)!

Because the Lansing area has really been hurting, this year's fundraiser to buy books did not raise the amount of money it usually does. Without our help, the woman in charge of the program said she really didn't know how they might fill the gap. This K-4 school gives nearly 2/3 of the kids a new book through this program, and it really gets them excited about reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for us: it helps an enormously successful literacy program weather a tough time, and it's super easy to get involved!

We're going to be running a book drive as our service project. If each member contributes two or three (or five or six) books, we can help Pinecrest reach their goal of being able to give every reader a new book! They need everything from picture books to chapter books . If you loved the Boxcar children series or Curious George or Good Night, Moon, this is a chance to share that love!
