Project Mulberry

I just finished reading Project Mulberry and I'm curious to see what other people thought about the page breaks where the author and Julia spoke to each other. I found it to be somewhat amusing at first, but towards the end of the book, I found myself skipping the parts. It seemed out of place to me and I found myself having to go back to the pages that I had been reading before to know what was occurring in the story. Did anyone else find this distracting? Do you think that the author intended to have everyone read the in between the chapter conversations or is it a bonus to the readers who choose to do so?
