The Spanish Language

I found the article written by Ada to be very interesting. I think it's great that Ada talked about the different dialects spoken in Spanish because many people are unaware of this. I went to Spain to study last summer and it was very interesting to hear the different dialects being used. I studied in Santander, which is in northern Spain, near Pais Vasco. In the Vasco region, people speak Basque which is a very difficult language to learn because it has no origin and people have spent hundreds of years trying to figure out where its roots come from. While traveling through this region, the signs were written in English, Spanish and Basque and we ran into several people who could only speak Basque.

My friends and I also traveled to Barcelona where Catalan is spoken. Several of the signs were only written in Catalan and it was very interesting to see the differences and similiraties between Spanish and Catalan. I think it's great that Ada made a point to discuss the different dialects, in order to make people more aware of them.
